According to my wife, with the recent concerns about the dangers of food dyes, the big trend this year in decorating Easter eggs is doing it using all natural recipes (tumeric, chamomile, blueberries, pomegranate, red onion skins, beets, saffron can all create beautiful, although more muted colors. Sometimes people wrap rubberbands
(not too tight) around the eggs to create rings around the eggs. She wrote about this on her recent article for HGTV.
Go to HGTV's website and click on the link for BLOG near the top center. She published the post on Sunday. Lots of pretty photos and links to DIY instructions.
One designer attached leaves to the eggs, then wrapped them in panty hose to keep the botanical in place, then dye them. You can see pictures of this and other ideas on her blog she wrote for HGTV.com. There's also DIY on dyeing eggs and then decorating them with glitter. My favorite is painting wooden eggs with chalkboard paint in a variety of colors and then writing and drawing on the eggs.
Thanks from this proud parent of six beautiful chickens!
