Easter egger 9.5wk ?boy/girl?

Bravo-
Sorry you don't like the "chicklets." We're new here and figured that if someone saw one thread, they would easily see the other 5 were ours too. But, as you can see, chicklet doesn't bother us. We just refer to them as the girls (or the "small girls" as the "girls" usually are defining our cats).

hey welcome! I like the word "chicklet" ... in fact, you could build on it... maybe for a little spanish flair you could call them "chicle" you know, like the gum...

Like the poster said, she already thought that she's an EE, but I have what I call EE's & they lay pale BLUE eggs. So what does THAT mean? I bought 1 from a guy who breeds all kinds of chickens & has secure breeding pens, which i saw myself. The other came from a feed store, which of COURSE, had them labeled "Ameraucana". One's a reddish Wheaten color, & one's got markings similar to a light brahma. I just always figure they're EE's. They both lay almost the same shade of blue egg. Now I'm wondering what's up....

Back to the thread...I STILL say PULLET!

I know they have a pea comb; I was referring to the color development as well as size, & she's got neither, imho.

I've seen some exceptions where EEs are simply AOV Ameraucanas, thus able to have blue eggs.

But a lot of people do see a blue-green or teal blue egg and call it blue, too. . . So it could be either scenario.

Thanks for all your help! We'll post updated pics after a week or two...
klf73- Ugh! That's what I thought you would say since you asked for larger pics. What's funny is that our logic was so off with the chicks- that our Ameraucana(ee) was a boy because he was so big & fast growing & that this one was a girl because she was so petite & slower.
Only time will tell (& I'm impatient!)... Haha!

EEs can lay pretty much any color egg, from olive to brown to pink to aqua to blue... Depends on what the mix is...So you just never know what you'll get til they start to lay. A lady not far from me has a bunch of EEs that lay blue eggs(pale) that came from parents that lay blue eggs(pale blue)... And I have 2 EEs from 2 totally different sources that lay blue eggs(not as dark as my Ameraucana though). One looks like it may have been the product of an AMxLeghorn as she is exactly marked like my brown Leghorn except fatter, and has green legs... Then me and Shelleyd2008(Who I got the second one from) have discussed the other one and I'm of the opinion it may actually be a mix of an Ara and an AM, she came a bunch of eggs from a private breeder that bred both.

It is really hard to tell sexes on EEs till they either get their saddle feathers in or they start to lay... Every once in a while there may be an obvious one either way. We thought for a long time that one of mine was possibly a male cause she had some pointy feathers but its a she... First to start laying of my EEs and Ameraucana.

I agree about the EEs can lay any color egg. A couple years ago someone posted a pic of a real nice blue egg that came from an EE. I think speckled hen also had an EE that laid a nice blue egg. You just never know what you will get....
