Hi, I just got this Hen she is Absolutely Gorgeous I Love her I was told she was a Easter Egger but she lays White Eggs maybe Cream color. Do you think she could be a Ameraucana or Olive Egger or just a Easter Egger? The lady I got her from said she was a Easter Egger but not really sure. Has a Single Comb and Grey Legs I know she isn't a mixed breed. Thank you 🐓🐓

Easter eggers are a mixed breed. Basically they are mutts that have the ability to lay blue, green, or variety of colors. Americaunas are difficult to find and you would have to find a reputable breeder. They will always lay blue eggs. Olive eggers come from the americaunas and something else, but it escapes me right at the moment. Someone just posted the diferences between the 3 very well in a separate thread. I believe it was @Gray Farms. If anything she could fill in the missing blanks.

Yours is probably still and easter egger that just lays white eggs. Whatever shes mixed with is causing the egg color. With the single comb, I'd say australorp (or orpington).

I have an EE whos mom was a ccl and dad was a black orp. Shes solid black, has a crest and comb like a ccl, and lays brown eggs. Her sister was solid chocolate and laid green eggs. One sister inherited the blue gene, one did not, but they still were EE's.

She is an Easter Egger (if indeed I am seeing muffs on her cheeks). That is a hybrid (mix) of Ameraucana and any other breed, usually a brown layer type, to produce light green eggs. If the line is not well controlled, the blue shell gene is quickly bred out resulting in birds that lay white, or brown, or tan, depending on the genetics for brown wash, and will have single combs. *Typically* Easter Eggers from Ameraucana parentage (at least close enough back to matter) will have muffs (cheek fluff), pea comb, and often green legs but may have yellow or another color. If from a careful line, they will lay light greenish eggs but will not breed true.

Ameraucana, (spelled with au never an i), are a very specific breed type that has pea comb, about 7 standard colors, grey/slate legs, and will breed pure for blue shell eggs. To get an Ameraucana, you need to go to a reliable breeder. Many hatcheries claim to have Ameraucanas, and will misspell it Americana, but what they actually have are the much cheaper Easter Egger.

Olive Egger is another hybrid (mix) between a blue shell layer parent and a dark brown layer parent. Often Ameraucana is on one side while Welsummer, Barnevelder, or Marans are on the other side. However, other breeds that lay blue eggs can be used, or even with a proven Easter Egger. I create my Olive Eggers with Cream Legbars for the blue shell gene side over Barnevelder (for the dark brown wash).

HTH.

Pretty girl. Enjoy her.

This one is an instance that one can not be 100% sure without knowing the exact breeding behind the bird. The beard does not guarantee she has Ameraucana in her breeding. There are several other breeds that have beards. She may not have any Ameraucana in her at all.

For instance I crossed a White Faced Black Spanish rooster over Spangled Russian Orloff hens and produced offspring like your hen. Solid black, slate legs, single combs, bearded, and layed light brown eggs.

She is most likely an Easter egger. Easter Egger's and olive Egger's ARE mixed breeds or land races. Easter Egger's are notorious for laying all sorts of colors of eggs when you think you're gonna get blues or greens.
I've crossed ameraucanas with a wide variety of birds and gotten some with a single comb like that. So your bird is lovely but definitely a mixed breed. And from what I know of egg genetics, it should be that the parents weren't Ameraucanas or other purebred blue egg layers either. Probably two Easter Egger's or an EE and something else.
Very pretty chicken though!
