Easter egger beard looking strange

It’s looking thin and mangey if that’s the right word, it’s been like this for awhile now couple weeks any ideas? I haven’t seen any bugs in the coop other than crickets and I don’t see anything on her…

Very likely it's from other birds overgrooming her, it's common that bearded birds lose their beards over the season from other birds helping to clean up their faces of food bits.
Well that’s good news as I was afraid it could be mites, do you think I would benefit from putting some diatomaceous earth in the coop and run or is that only for confirmed mite cases.

I don't believe in using DE to treat for parasites. If you have confirmed mites, use permethrin or elector PSP to treat. Otherwise giving birds access to dustbathing areas is the best general preventative.
