My are real flighty.... Not friendly, high energy, try to run through the end of the brooder, fly out, etc.. anything they can to get away...non of the other birdsa are like this......

Is this common for the breed(if it can be called a bread)

Also noticed crossed beaks, I have 1 out of 5 with a crossed beak. Over on another forum I noticed the crossed beaks were EE's.....

Since EE's usually have Leghorn blood in them to increase egg production, I'm not surprised to hear that they're flighty.

I had 4 EE's 2 were flighty and 2 were very friendly, so that's not very conclusive, but oddly enough one had a cross-beak.

I guess in the rush to get colored egg layers out on the market some breeders lowered their standards.

And you're right EE's are not a recognized breed.

Most breeds of chicken act like this at a young age. It's up to you to gain their trust and tame them. With daily handling and hand feeding you should be able to tame most if not all of them. My EEs are awesome birds but they dont hop up on my lap like my Buff Orp. But my 2 older EE hens always come to see me when I enter the pen and my Rooster is also a great EE.
Enjoy your EEs and they are even better once the green and blue eggs start popping!
