Is cheek fluff the norm for EEs, or would it be equally normal to get an EE without the tufts?

I know they aren't technically a breed, so tuftless happens, but I'm interested in how common it is, just for curiosity's sake.

It used to not happen, but lately it has become a bit more common. I have one out of 4 with no muffs. Hopefully breeding changes so it becomes rare again as I find the muffs to be a characteristic that is important to the breed, can't actually call it a breed until things are standardized, but it would be nice if it would become an actual breed.

Tuffs sometimes called muffs or beards are common in EE also without the tuffs are, too. I used to have two that was tuffless that both layer a pale pink egg. Now I have three with the tuff but they are pullets that only one is laying and it's a blue egg. Tuff or no tuff they still a pretty bird that lays colored eggs. My three EE pullets' names are Neisha, Lupine, and Copper-Amber.
