Little Miss French Fry. Really wish my daughter had picked a different name

. She rides around in my hood and it's so cute. Her riding on my shoulder was cute too till she started pecking at my eye. That hurts!

My girls have finally started laying about 3 weeks ago. I think only 3 of my 4 are laying and one of them doesn't lay every day. I only know of two girls for sure that are laying every day. So excited to see green / bluish eggs from them.

Don't ever think your eyes are deceiving you. Our Ameraucana layed pastel blue eggs that would turn greenish after the air oxidized the outer shell. The best time to catch a blue egg picture is as soon as it's layed. You'll find the greenish-blue eggs turning more sage the longer they stand around. Some owners have put blue eggs into the fridge and got greenish ones out of the fridge LOL!

These are my Easter eggers. I have two of them. The smaller one without as many feathers is my too Dr. Suess and the one with more feathers is my hen and her name is Audrey:) They are both skittish, but once they get on the back of your neck they fall asleep lol!!! The bottom pic is an additional pic of my roo while we were on our way home from getting them. I also got four buff Orpingtons. Lost one yesterday morning

The pics of my Easter egger were from about three weeks ago. Now my roo has more feathers and HUGE feet! My hen is a lot bigger too.
"Dr Seuss" huh? You're absolutely positive her eggs will be green?

Do all Easter eggers have those poofy feathers on there cheeks and chin?

No. Only some of mine do. Muffins and Smokey have very impressive beards/tufts, Braveheart, ObLaDi & ObLaDa have modest earmuffs and not much beard. Strawberry Shortcake has just the barest hint of muffs, n beard and Robin nothing at all. Oddly, of those laying, only Muffins and Smokey lay 'colored' eggs, Muffin's is a light mint green and Smokey's is blue. Robin's is a pale gold, Braveheart's is pink. Does the "beard/muff gene' have anything to do with eggshell color? Strawberry Shortcake and the twins haven't started laying yet to my knowledge.

Quote: Actually, Muffin's green eggs and Smokey's blue ones seem to hold their color very well. I have noticed though when I 'bake' their shells before crushing them to give back to the chicken's that the blue insides turn white yet the outside doesn't change at all.
