Easter Egger club!

They've gotten so much bigger! Today was the big girls' first day outside. Uranus is the Easter Egger showing off her mask to the camera. Jupiter is on lookout duty. Mars probably sees a tasty bug.

My EE girls (and friends) with their first sod today! Sprinkled a pinch of extra grit on it, though all have had some previously. Hatch date June 27-28. All 25 chicks, including the 8 EE, doing extraordinarily well. Yesterday I removed their supplemental heat mat and gave them a couple of huddle boxes. Temps staying 84-98 F in that room. Behavior says they are comfortable.

Watching them play chase with a blade of grass is sweet.

Yes, it's definitely that time of year when supplemental heat requirements are low if you are brooding outdoors like I do (which I highly recommend when possible!).
