Easter Egger club!

Ok, a little something here. They .... usually... take up to at least 9 months to start laying. Most of mine sadly followed the rule. Not all take a while to start, but most. And, that beauty pictured above...a real stinker. Didn't want to have anything to do with people. Had to pick her up this spring to trim feathers around her bottom...she got me good on my arm. Nice to look at though.
That hasn't been my experience at all. Mine have all started shortly after the production layers, long before the slower maturing breeds. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-24 weeks. Where do you get your chicks?

Yes, I calculated that you had more than that but I was counting the pic... they look like a lovely bunch... sitting there all pretty like! So I guess it won’t be so bad.. right?? I feel like I have a LOT!
Some people keep up to a hundred or more. I also have 10 baby ducklings with one broody, one chick with the other broody, and 12 older ducklings :p

Wow. Guessing what they're mixed with to make the EE. Happy for you. It's hard waiting!

Well, if you knew me....I've done a lot of hatching!!! I would get eggs from many different breeders. I would have some start around 6 months..but most of these little Barn yard mixes ..EE'S...would usually start around 7 to 9 months. Had to wait though, love the colored eggs. And, when you hatch, being told I may be getting an OE... that's always fun. Love the OE too.

I noticed she wasn't out on the yard one morning. Luky me..she a was in the nest box, pushing. Ran to get my camera..yep..years ago. Watched her finally push this egg out..but wait.....what? She even she looked surprised...the gal that sold me the eggs..apologizes, says, oops, someone must have flown into my other pen.
