That hasn't been my experience at all. Mine have all started shortly after the production layers, long before the slower maturing breeds. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-24 weeks. Where do you get your chicks?Ok, a little something here. They .... usually... take up to at least 9 months to start laying. Most of mine sadly followed the rule. Not all take a while to start, but most. And, that beauty pictured above...a real stinker. Didn't want to have anything to do with people. Had to pick her up this spring to trim feathers around her bottom...she got me good on my arm. Nice to look at though.
