Easter Egger club!

So, are EEs just in general super awesome rock star chickens?? I ask this because our EE is so friendly, loving, and smart! She has single handedly proved to my hubby that chickens are awesome!!

I bought my three Easter Eggers as an impulse purchase to help round my chick order up to 50. All of my 48 remaining chicks are now five weeks old and I just finished their spacious run on Saturday and opened up the pop holes to the coop.

I have been watching them a lot and I have counted up to twenty out at one time, but my Easter Eggers appear to be... well, chicken! Two of them I have seen step out on the ramp, but always seem to get scared and run back in. The third one I have yet to even see poke its head out.

I know they will eventually come around and they might have finally made the move out by now when I haven't been able to watch, but does anyone else have the experience of them seeming to be a bit more timid than others?

Evil Pit Bull!!! J/k he was raised right and hangs out with the chickens all the time.

What a great day!
I love that your dog plays with your chickens. I have a lab who is fascinated by them, but I don't trust her to interact with them. Maybe when my dog gets a little older...(she's 18 mos).

That's awesome having a dog that will be good with the chickens. We have a dachshund that I don't trust with our 9 week old chicks, I'm hoping that when they get older and bigger than him he won't be so interested in them any more. ;-) On a side note is it normal for them to lose feathers? They all seem perfectly healthy and happy but there are feathers all around the run. No bald spots either. Being worrisome, new chicken mamma.

I like those names. I have 13, don't know if I can come up with names for all of them. Probably just name my favorites and the roosters when I figure out which ones they are.

Most of my animals just end up being named whatever I start calling them. Fluffy. Red. Gray one. Crazyasscat. You know...
