Hello EastinChickens! I would love to join your EE club! I have six EE's, all hens.... I have four Rhode Island Reds, they are in the pics too, I hope that is okay.

Waiting for treats!

When they were Babies.
Love your chickens, they are adorable....makes me want chicks AGAIN. Wonderful picture as they stand by the door. Ahhh chickens.

It's so exciting to see all of your beautiful pics! I am getting my very first chicks this spring. I selected 2 Easter eggers, 2 Rhode Island reds, 2 barred rock and 2 welsummer hens. I can't wait to start sharing pics with all of you.

Love looking through here. Our EE has turned out the be top hen. I really
hadn't expected that. She is most interested in anything, watches out for
everything, chases smaller birds out of our yard and loves to chest butt
and put her leg on the back of the Black Australorp that is about her
size. I thought she might be a he for a little while but no sure tell
tale signs and she is now 17 weeks. I would think I would hear a
little attempt at crowing if she was a he. Praying for eggs

oh! I'll have to get some photos of my gals this weekend and share them. :) I have three EEs and they are delightful. Their names are Buffy, Roxanne and Miney. You have to understand that I got them along with three BRs that were being dumped because they weren't up to standard. I didn't care about standard, I just wanted some egg layers and chickens...I love ém all. The BRs run around with the EEs and are snuggled together, tonight, actually - their names are Eenie, Meenie and Mo...thus, you might understand the Miney as the name for my third EE. :)

I haven't quite figured out why the girls have no interest in their roost - but, they love to snuggle down together in their litter and never peck or irritate each other. Though there is often a game of 'catch me if you can' when treats are being handed out and the last one goes.

Roxanne is my most avid treat fanatic. She spots right off if there are treats getting ready to happen. Mo generally isn't far behind; but, Roxanne is definitely top notch at spotting treats. Buffy isn't so much a treat bird. She'd rather just ignore you and then sneak up and snag a treat when you aren't looking. She's sly like that. Miney is just a lovely bird who wants everyone to just get along. She is quite and docile and a little shy.

Edit: Photos!

  • Miney and Eenie. Miney was giving me whatfor cuz I had tossed her back in the coop so I could get her picture.

  • Nom nom nom....morning mash (starter-grower mash mixed with a bit of molasses and warm milk). They go nuts for it, especially on chilly mornings.

  • Drinking water - this is a closeup of Miney ((too bad it's so blurry)) with Ennie and Roxanne hiding in the back.

  • This is Meenie (left) and Miney (right). Meenie is only differentiated from her sister Eenie by the amount of black on her beak. I love Miney's colouring. She's just gorgeous.

  • Here are Buffy (left) and Miney (right)...both of them are a bit shy, but very sweet.

  • This is Roxanne - She's a gorgeous brown. Especially when the sun hits her. She and Mo are my two most avid treat fanatics; but, she wasn't too keen on the camera. She's curious about everything - but, for some reason, my camera made her decide treats weren't worth it. Funny.

  • I know she's not an EE...but, I had to share it. This is Mo. She was very, very curious about the camera - and, tried to see if it was something that might be a treat in disguise. I caught her just as she was coming in for a taste test.
