Easter Egger club!

Hi Easter egger friends!
I rescued a hen about a month ago from horrible conditions. She was at a flea market stuffed in tiny cage with almost no feathers and a huge open gash on her back. Yes I know tiny cages are for transport but he had chickens stuffed in them way to many, some couldn't move, no water in most cages and it was 92 degrees that day. Anyway I wanted to buy them all but only had room for one do I picked out the torts one and brought her home. After tlc and seperation to make sure she didn't have a illness she could give to mine I put her I. With my rooster. Thinking I had a game hen because it was very hard to tell from all her missing feathers. But she layed her first egg today!!!!YAY!!! It was green!!!!! So I have a Easter egger!!!! I'm do happy! Her egg was super tiny just a tad bigger then a robin egg, so she's not 100% better yet but she's getting there!!! B

Well we went on our Rooster adventure today and the guy gave us the third roo because he had to get rid of them...LOL...This is how I will loose at Chicken Math...LOL
I will be selling Alexander the Great and possibly the Road Warrior...LOL.. Bilbo will stay with us photos really don't do him justice.

My poor poodle did not expect a stampede of chickens this morning when she ran out after a sandwich I threw out! I just started letting my chickens free range lol I think the kitten was shocked too! I think my EE Roo is so handsome! His name is Hercules.

I'm going to an auction soon and I want to get some chickens. How long do you recommend I keep them separate from the chickens I have now?

I just rescued a hen in bad condition, I had no idea what she had, I kept here separated for 3 weeks, I prob would have done longer but she was alone and and needed companionship. At the 3 weeks I just watched her poop, apatite, additive (energy) and made sure she started having new feather growth. Once she started to grow new feather and everything else looked better then I put her in with my flock. If yours come in a pair or more then I'd do 1 month at the very least.

Ok, just a thought...but if they do have a disease or something, what do I clean the cage with to kill the bad bacteria or sickness?

Well Looks like this would be the place where I share my EE mixes?? Very puffy cheeks and thick necks, some of my favorites of the flock because they are very sweet. They are about 12-13 weeks right now.

I have 14 birds and the breeding was Black Copper Maran father to a Cuckoo female, a Welsummer female and a EE female. So I just picked out 14 babies from the combined chicks. I have 4 with the EE traits. Enjoy :)
