Easter Egger club!

Ok, so right now I have two roosters in one pen with all of the hens/pullets due to not enough room right now. They are not separated at all so they are both breeding same hens and what not. When I separate them and keep them separated with Rooster A in one pen and rooster B in another and they start breeding all the hens in each of their pens, will the other roosters semen fade out? If so, will it take up to a month?

Using Jerrys advice, I'd think you could wait just two weeks.

Anyone have and EE that looks like this? What color eggs do they make?

Our Buff Orpington who is the same age, recently started laying lovely little brown eggs. Today though I found TWO brown eggs in the box. So, either Peepers layed two eggs OR our EE is laying brown eggs.

I have one that looks just lime that but she is not laying eggs yet. She is due to start any day now...

I want to join the group! A little over a month ago I convinced my husband that we needed chickens. He agreed to 5. I wanted Americanas. Well I would have to order 8 to get any from a hatchery, so I decided to just try a local feed store. They didn't have any in stock but I got 4 different breeds to bring home as babies for my daughters. 1 black sex link, 1 wyndott, 1 barred rock, and one rhoad island white. I was really disappointed in not getting my Americanas and was doing research on them constantly. That's when I realized I really wanted Easter Eggers. A friend told me about a near by hatchery that has Americanas, and I took an hour drive. We bought 3. The hatchery had just moved from really close by me to an hour drive the same weekend I visited! So I didn't get to see hens or rosters or anything more than a broader pen. After 3 days of having the new 3 I realized something was wrong. My youngest daughters favorite smelled bad and had bubbles in one eye. I checked the other 2 and one of the younger ones has a runny nose. So I quarintened them. I researched and hoped for the best. By day 5 of owning them I got antibiotics started. The feed store I originally went to also had Americanas(Easter Eggers) in stock now! Since I figure my two sick birds may die I should get replacements. ( we're up to 9 chickens now = chicken math) so my oldest daughter turned 13 a few days later and was given a rooster from a friend! An Easter Egger! ( now we're up to 10= chicken math) So current day I most likely have 6 Easter Eggers, and 4 others, all under 8 weeks old. Yeah for chicken math. I'm not sure my husband even cares we have double. Lol

The babies, Caramel (lighter one) and Cocoa (darker one) 2 weeks old.

700

Luna, sick runny nose, 2 weeks later, all better now. 4 weeks old I think...

700

Ambrosia, sick smelly, eye bubbles, not better, smells better but still has eye bubbles and looks sickly. Acts fine though...

700

Roo Roo, the rooster who only goes roo roo in the Am. He is very funny with his newly found crowing. I believe he is 5-6 months old according to his previous owner.

The rest of the girls and the gold one is my EE bantam. Could she be a he? Her name is Goldie, but my husband calls her Mr. Gold, and Rumpelstiltskin... (Dotty is the barred, Herryetta is the white rhoad island, Gilbird is the wyndott, and Beep is the black sex link.)

Roo?

It's fine if she is a he. Then I will have a boy banti under two girl bantams if they survive this sicklyness...

I keep seeing posts about certain colors or feathering is exclusive to either one sex or another when it comes to EE's.
like red on the wings means male, or there was something about the coloration of the shoulder feathering. Any truth to feather color sexing for EE chickens, if
so that'd make things a lot easier...LOL

Although my Brahma mix baby EE has been most definitely male since the first week...LOL...
We're really unsure about the other 2.
I'll try and get a few new pics tomorrow if the weather is agreeable.

The red in the shoulders is autosomal red AKA enhanced red . It is only present on males . It usually shows up early before red in the neck and saddle . For earlier sexing try the tail feather method . Females grow tails faster than males . I am working on a auto sexing EE line . I should have 5 or so pullets and a cockerel to breed from next year . That is if nothing happens to them. I also do sex link project Ameraucana in blue/black . Sex link lavender/lavender split Ameraucana pullets available next year . I will have to take some new pics to post .

Front 3 are our EE's
we're hoping for at least 1 hen
fairly gangly stage for all but the guy in the front...
all approx. 4 wks
