Easter Egger club!

It's so exciting finding the eggs, especially the first green egg. I had been hoping we'd have an olive egger. Betty, the bantam, was the only one who laid today. I think the waning daylight hours are affecting them. We don't eat that many eggs so I'm not really worried about running out i just like getting eggs. :) Also dont want anything to be wrong and that's why they aren't laying yanno?

YAY!!!! Congrats on your first layers! How was it (probably sooo exciting you couldn't even speak)?  I hope your banty starts laying soon too!:fl

I think you have a really lovely flock! I love the dark partridge feathering - they match your guineas. :).

Hello.
It's actually TommyDaDelaware here, but I'm using my mom's account for a little while. we share a computer while my laptop is being fixed. Wilson and Mary are doing really good. We lost the pretty white one named Bell to Coccidiosis and mareks (Confirmed by the state veterinary laboratory). Now everyone is on Treatment for Coccidiosis as given to us by our vet, i also scrubbed the coop with bleach water. We picked up a new rooster and are planning on breeding Easter Eggers to sell to the Local 4-H kids. I was wondering if there is a specific name for his coloring? To me he looks like a silver duckwing, but there's too much white in there. ;) Thanks for any help.

His name when we got him was Rooster Cogburn. We decided to go with it and keep the name!

Is anyone using the no crow collar on their EE roo? I just got one for my cockerel who is about 6 weeks old so he can get used to it before he really HAS to wear it. What are your experiences?

Condolences on losing Bell! How long could you tell she was not doing good? What did she look/act like?
I only ask because my EE, Penny, got sick recently - all puffed up and tail turned down, not eating and hiding. The first thing people said was Corid against coccidiosis and calcium against egg problems. I did the calcium but she was doing better before I managed to get the Corid. I suspect she got into some nitrogen fertilizer and that is why she got better.
But if it had been coccidiosis...it would be helpful to know what that looks like and how fast it takes them.

The only one I would be confused about would be the 5th one down that is bigger than the rest. It's comb is pretty red at that young of age. Do you have any side/full body pics of it?
