Easter Egger club!

These are my little chicks when they were 1 week old. On of my white rocks was not in the picture. She was sleeping in the corner.

This is my Betsy. She's 2 years old. We were told she's an EE but she doesn't have the beard. I'm thinking she's got mutt mixed in with her somewhere down the line. She lays green eggs and has light green legs. She is the drama queen! And she waddles :)

Allllright everyone.. Here are youngest lovelies, Anna (with the lighter head) and Elsa. EE's hatched on May 4th with PANTS! oy they are so cute! Elsa definitely has leg feathers, they are just coming much later than Anna's and not nearly as much. This is them at 4 1/2 - 5 weeks old. Got 'em from a feed store so no clue what they are mixed with, but I'd love to hear some suggestions! I'm thinking they have Cochin or Brahma? But your guess is probably just as better than mine, lol

Yes, I have kids.. Yes, I let them name them all. No, these aren't the funniest we have. That crown goes to Princess Fluffy Buttcheeks, lol!

Well crap.. Went to google and I believe you are right... That feed store is gonna hear it... -.-
My kids are attached.. Dang it.
And you're not going to like this, but Tuff the Buff is actually a Cornish Cross. It's a meat bird that is bred to grow incredibly fast and be butchered at about 8 weeks of age. They do not live long, even under the best of circumstances.

The upside is that Brahmas are usually very sweet, and those feathery feet are a riot, especially when they're all grown up huge.

I just read that anything after a few weeks they become in pain and it's best to cull...
Now it's personal. Trading out Anna and Elsa would be sad for my kids.. But Tuff.. She was just an extra my bf's mom brought us when getting Anna and Elsa, figured she would be a good meaty for culling later. She brought her because she was following her around all crazy and super friendly. Now she's the absolute fav for everyone. Went you go to the door she flies up on the door and pecks your fingers (gently) trying to get out. She looks like a psycho trying to escape.. until you open the door and she jumps into your hands. She spends hours in the backyard with my kids just sitting on them, she's NEVER once walked around the yard pecking and scratching, she just wants to be held and petted. She has become BFFs with both of them. My 10 yr old is obsessed. My 7 yr old has behavior issues and is so hyper that he can't make friends so LITERALLY his only friends are his sister, Tuff and his dog. He loves Tuff (who he named and self declared his own). And for a chicken that is cool with hanging out on you while you are yelling and chopping the air, spinning, nearly throwing her off while running, and shoving her into a pitt bull's face so they can be friends too (don't worry they are), posing her to learn what's where, and basically doing everything that would be a normal terror for every chicken, that's a **** awesome chicken. He is gentle and never hurts her, but he's fast and nonstop and she doesn't care one bit. **** it. Best we can do is spoil the crap out of her and see how long she can make it without pain..
