this is my Anni Claus. She is 5 months old. My question is this. So many of these ee's look like my feed store girl. If they don't breed true how do so many look alike. Only 7 months a chicken mom so much to learn. Could her mom or dad have been an ee and the other like a wellesummer or leg at? What do hatcheries use in the pairing?

Hatchery stock have an assortment of colors in EE roos and EE hens so that's why the multi-color offspring are different -- or in some cases very much alike offspring. All depends on the breeding pairs that mate in the hatchery's breeding pens. Hatcheries don't need to throw other breeds in with the EEs. The genetic history of EEs is so wide and varied in itself EEs don't need to be cross-bred -- unless like MyPetChicken you are trying to create special colored egg layers like OEs or more blue-egg layers, etc. MyPetChicken is experimenting with crossing all kinds of colored egg layers using Ameraucanas as well as EEs, Cream Legbars, Marans, etc, and those mixed offspring are not particularly guaranteed to always lay the same color egg -- but MPC does inform the customer that the birds are mixed breeds.
