Easter Egger club!

Gosh that is tempting, But I don't have a lot of space to keep a lot of chickens. My girls have never met a roo, though there are a couple in the neighborhood that they can hear. I don't want to raise chicks myself again and have said if we do chicks again I need a broody. Only one of my girls has tried going broody 2 separate times, I just locked her out of the coop and run until she settled down and snapped out of it. I was just thinking of paying a little extra for a couple of young pullets from Russell so I could avoid all the chick nonsense in our little house. One day, when we can relocate to a piece of land, then we will do the roo thing, but not now. Thank you.
I totally agree. Someone "said" they are coming to pick up both of my roosters today. Where in So. Cal. are you located? Yeah, I read that brodies make it easier than collecting brooder boxes, incubators and all that extra work. I like letting nature do the work and chicken math can rapidly become overwhelming...

I have 1 SLW, 2 BR & 4 EE. One EE lays green, one cream, the other two are the 21 week old pullets so no eggs yet. Would love to add a Black Copper Marans & an Olive Egger for the egg colors. Waiting for my mom to be in town for the holidays, hoping to take her down to Chickens Galore with me. She used to keep chickens before I was born. Her mom grew up on a chicken farm. So it's in my blood. And my daughter for her 14th birthday asked for chickens, seems it's in her blood too ;-)
Yep, I want a blue maran and really want a olive egger! Russell says he doesn't have any olive eggers

I can't have roosters but am very tempted to borrow a blue maran roo and breed to my blue ameracauna to try to produce some olive eggers. But then I would truly insane, right? Lol

Not if it took quickly and quietly. I would have loved to have been able to breed my own. I'm learning to say no...but if you do find a project let me know, no wait nevermind, no wait let me know...

I am in Pomona. I agree with you, I would rather have a broody do the work. We hand raised the two chicks we got and that was tough in our small house. Do you have a green egger you can put your marans over? I would happily buy a couple OE chicks from you. They would be worth the hassle of hand raising, or maybe I'd collect them at 4-5 months of age.

Sorry, but my roosters are (hopefully) being rehomed today so my BCM is leaving. I wish I could have done an OE project.
