Easter Egger club!

K, so question.. Every feed store in Duval is telling me that an EE is just an Ameraucana.. I was under the impression that an EE is an Ameraucana x NEARLY ANY OTHER BREED. and this is how they get the EE and the Olive Egger? I know they are "mutt breeds" or what ever, but i love the idea of them, and think they'd be a great addition for the kids, either way i'll be getting one and just want to know if the "Ameraucana" i just bought is indeed, and EE or just the parent of a possible EE?? help?

I'm only a few years in but I'm pretty sure an Americauna is a unique strand verses Easter egger. The feed store might just assume the chicks/parents look most LIKE an Americauna so they are just rolling with it! (Always makes me wonder how they can SAY any are DEF this or that breed when, they aren't the ones feeding/raising&hatching them!) Did you look under Breeds for easter egger verses a Americauna? The differences should be pointed out there.
Untill two weeks ago I always thought Easter egger meant the hen laided pink, greenish or blue like eggs, finding that's not always the case.
I'm sure you will get some yummy eggs either way!

Your EE looks like mine (far right) now a beautiful black and white bird. The breeder told me I was getting ameraucana but everyone says it's an EE which from what I understand is an Ameraucana mixed with any other breed
She looks EXACTLY like yours!! which they said was def female but who's to tell at this age since they aren't an auto-sexing breed? I'm hoping for a pullet

because i'd hate to have to give it up. Arlington isn't really the best place for a roo XD I'm hoping for an EE, We are aiming for a hen that will lay many colored eggs for the kids. One of the EE's at their spring break camp laid 2 pink eggs earlier this week but they are starting to turn to a light brownish, and of course they blue, green and 2-3 grade brown eggs they also give!

Easter Eggers from hatcheries have very little in common with true Ameraucana. Both started from the same imported stock, but true Ameraucana have been bred and refined to the point where they are now, and have been for over 25 years, a recognized breed. Hatchery 'Ameraucana' have not been bred to any sort of standard, and hatcheries have bred in other breeds to improve the overall production and rate of development. Both are great, but they are two very different things. Duval trying to convince you that Easter Eggers and Ameraucana are the same thing is kind of like a dog breeder trying to pass off a German Shepherd as a Beagle.

I had for Easter Eggars plus some other breeds and so far two of the four have been male. I found a farm for them but I'm really hoping my last two are female. I'm in Arlington as well and I know my neighbors would have a cow if one of them ended up being a rooster. my homeowners association would start fining us the next day I'm sure
