That goes just about for any breed.  A Dominique lays brown eggs from light to medium browns.  Ameraucanas and EEs lay various blues/greens with some EEs laying pink and even WHITE!  Even our Silkies don't lay the same tinted eggs - one lays cream matte finish eggs while the other lays pinkish cream glossy finish eggs.  Welsummers lay wildly different brown eggs in varying degrees of browns and some with speckles or spots.  Yep, a box of chocolates!

How's everyone's chicks doing today? Mine are out in the run and I'm drying out brooder. It's another scorcher out there but at least the wind is blowing a bit. It's torture getting EE out and in. Any new suggestions? They'll be out for another 4-5 hrs. I like to have them settled by sundown & and never rush or stress at the last moment.

Mine are all good too!! I live them sooo much and they are probably my favorites out of my mixed flock.

I just added a roost into their brooder today and the EEs were the first ones to get on it!!

Do Easter Eggars lay brown eggs? I got three eggs the same color as the one on the far left then the last two eggs I got from her are brown. What gives?

Maybe it's a difference in the color on my screen, but those last two eggs aren't brown to me. They are "olive green." Easter Eggers are a blue egg layer cross. Olive Eggers are blue egg layers crossed with a chocolate brown layer. There can be a difference in the shades of green and the darkness of the brown overlay depending on the hens cycle.

WOW! How on earth do you manage free rangers without a lab,herder,healer,mix or some sort of pup support? You must be exhausted yikes!
Dogs are very serious&rewarding business A LOT of responsibility&effort goes in depending on breeds. There's a diamond in the ruff from time to time I hit lotto on a CL adoption once went for one,ended up with two brothers. Spent over $1,350. Just on vet alone. Climbed the AKC ladder with honest&hard work. Invested a great deal. Every time I see a Labrador or Shepard in service it still makes my neck&arm hair stand up.
A beautiful thing when a human&beast come together as a working team for purpose.

My 2 EEs are the biggest brats going! They're about 11weeks old now and the biggest birds of my flock. They're the least friendly, and are just plain weirdos. They run around like a couple of goof-balls. They both hate to be held or touched. They run away and if you manage to catch one and hold them, they flap their wings and squirm and squawk like they're being killed! I sure hope they mellow out as they get older!

This is Gertrude, aka Gertie-birdie. She's hard to get a good pic of. Always in motion.






And this is her "sister" Henrietta. She's even worse than Gertie. Absolutely hates us even attempting to touch her. The biggest brat of the bunch!

They do seem a bit challenging. My two favorite EEs loved being held until I moved them outside to the coop then it was like- if you not giving me treats then keep moving, look but don't touch. They have been rehomed due to crowing.
