Quote: the male of any breed can potentially be mean. And with Easter Eggers it's even more of a coin-flip as their genetic makeup isn't as uniform as that of more 'pure' breeds. My EE Roo was mean, but only towards me (at least until I 'adjusted' his attitude). He's fine with his ladies. Now between roosters, that's a different story. There will be an initial squabbling once he matures until they have established a pecking order. But unless the 'second banana' is stubborn and refuses to accept his submissive role, they should be fine.

Have you guys found that your eggs change color? Spider-girl's eggs started off blue and now are green. Is that normal? Her sister was broody then molted so she hasn't laid in a while. Have nothing to compare it too. My 2 CCL have pretty much shut down for the winter
our araucanas stopped laying mid october when they molted
as for eggs changing colour, the brown layer of whatever shade can change lighter or darker depending on the speed it passes through the egg gland pouch, the slower it passes through the darker the egg.

if your hen has a blue and brown gene, then you will ultimately have a green layer, depending on how dark the original chickens brown eggs were, depends on how green the eggs of the offspring will be. so if your hens parent laid light tan eggs, then it will lay a slightly tinted green, therefore if the egg passed through the pouch quickly where the brown is added, it will come out mostly blue, and if it passes through slower, it will be slightly darker green than usual,

heres our 5 1/2 month EE

its mother was a buff orpington

I hope Rodge gives us pritty eggs, cause she is a turd! Lol never leaves the coop when she needs too, dosent fallow.... Has her own agenda...But we love how eagle like she looks
Sunny is a good girl, as long as Rodge is contained she will go anywhere you want, RSL I think
