My girl HeyHey is 4 years old and has been laying shell-less eggs for a while. I've been giving her 600mg calcium with D3 daily and she is still not laying solid eggs. This morning after giving her medicine, she didn't hurry off like she normally does, and has let out (from her cloaca) a few little foamy, white droppings.. Pic below. She is standing completely still, closing her eyes at times, with her tail flat. I don't know what to do for her, but I'm afraid she's in pain. Any advice?

Hi, I'm sorry your hen isn't doing well. There are a number of conditions that could explain the symptoms you're seeing. Is she having any respiratory symptoms, like sneezing or wheezing? Has it been unusually hot where you live? Is her crop emptying at night? Have you noticed any parasites on her or any other chickens lately?

No respiratory symptoms, however, about 8 months ago, I had to put down her friend that was having respiratory symptoms and not getting better with meds. It's definitely hot here in SWMO, but they have plenty of shade, fresh cold water (refreshed twice a day) and cold treats on unbearable days. No parasites in my flock at all, that's one thing I watch for religiously. Her crop is empty each morning, before they get let out to free range, because that's when I dose her with calcium/D3. She's been laying shell-less eggs for about 4 months now, and every now and then she will expel a very soft shell with the egg innards. It's so tough to watch, because it's much harder for her to lay than a normal egg. Plus my other girls know and they will circler her until it comes out and eat it immediately. I don't want to cull her, but I feel like it's torture on her to continue and now she's having these symptoms..

When did you last deworm?

Have you added any new birds to your flock lately?

Is the feed fresh, no mould or parasites?
I do not de-worm unless I see a need to, and so far I haven't. No new additions. Food is fresh and kept in a locked bin. Definitely no mold. They have access to layer feed, I throw out 5 grain scratch with mealworms each morning, and they free range through out the day.

My girl isn't getting any better and is sitting in the nesting box often 😭 I don't know what to do. Seems like torture to let her continue on.
