I purchased these babies from our local ACE and I wanted this one because he/she was so different than the other RIR's-- they had a cage full of EEers and I asked the clerk if it got mixed in with the other RIR's because he really looked like them and he said no sometimes RIR's have these markings-- so what do you think? He/she kept running so my daughter couldn't get a great picture of him/her so hope it's ok--

God Bless

The pic is pretty indistinct but I'm not seeing muffs or tufts or green legs BUT I also haven't seen a RIR baby with markings like those. I raise both breeds and I confess I'm stumped until I can get a closer look.

It might be some kind of production red but is not a Rhode Island Red...
Might even be a cross breed of some type..

i agree. it looks like a production red. some hatcheries call them call them rhode island reds even though they are different. it will be an excellent layer.

Thanks you everyone--

So you think they are all reds? I think they were production reds I got as well last year from ACE, they get them from Ideal hatchery in TX but they were wonderful pullets and so sweet-- they called them RIR's BUT they were so light in color I'll include a picture of one she was 7 months old here--
