Easter egger- purchased a started pullet

I purchased multiple pullets that have been sexed . Purchased from a local farm sale. hatched in January 2025
Just wanted to confirm this is a girl and not a cockerel. She definitely is the top and frequently is posturing and chest bumping with some of my marans . Im pretty sure it’s a hen not a roo but id love confirmation. Thank you

She's got female specific coloring. She's probably just trying to find her place in the pecking order.

Girl for sure! She would have a much more colorful, larger comb if a boy. She also lacks sickle feathers and she'd be about old enough for it now.

No, I definitely wouldn't go so far to call it "sex linked" but males are typically very uneven in color pattern (splotchy coloring) while females will be more even. Also, males often develop reddish/rust color in the shoulders area.

Ah OK, I misinterpreted. Yeah, she's not as colorful and shiny as a boy either.

You are correct; she is a female. Probably on a lower rung of the hierarchy though. Nicely loose feathered & filled out.
That hen is a beauty ;-)
