So, i know that mixing colors from easter eggers equal certain colors, which is very cool.

But i was wondering, on the rooster side, is it the egg color he hatches out of, or his mothers egg color? I think its what he hatched out of, and you would mix that with the hens color, and it would make another color. But im a little lost, so im just curious!

Easter eggers by nature are fairly unpredictable. The parents’ breeds will help determine egg color, but only to a point.

The color egg a cock hatches from is the same thing as his mother’s egg color. In order to predict what his contribution would be, obviously you can’t tell his egg color, so it would depend on his parents.

EE bred to EE will give you an unpredictable egg color.
If you’re breeding EEs from Standard bred to create them, then you have more control.

Oh okay! I didn’t know if you had to have hatched it or know what egg it came from, and if not, when you breed them you could figure it out.

So its the roosters mom then? Thanks! I don’t plan on breeding them, just was curious.
