I have a chicken that started making a weird sound. As she breathes in and out, I can hear a rattling, raspy sound . This started today, as well as her submissive squat stance. She seems frantic to get out of the run (more than usual anyway).

Do I need to quarantine her? Is she sick? Or is she just trying to figure out this egg laying thing?

I wish I could upload a video (if I can please let me know!) Thank you!

That sounds like symptoms of a possible respiratory infection or disease. Watch for other signs, such as runny nose, watery or bubbly eyes, or swelling around an eye or the face. Sometimes mucus or a foreign object in the airway can cause those sounds. Videos are best uploaded on YouTube, then post a link here to view. Keep a close eye on her, and if it looks like a respiratory infection, then separate her, and check back her. Antibiotics such as Tylan, oxytetracycline, and Gallimycin are sometimes used for treatment of bacterial diseases such MG or coryza.
