My bantam cochin started making honking sounds today. She's still eating and drinking, but seemed to follow me in the pen a bit more, making these weird sounds. I think she may have laid an egg today, the first one in several months.
I brought her in for a cuddle and noticed she was a bit raspy, but no eye or nose drainage. Eyes are normal and bright. She sat with me and was very alert, watching everything around her.
I have Vet RX and gave her some in warm water twice today. And brought her into my sunroom in an extra hutch. I wanted to keep her separate from the other hens and also warm - temps will fall into the 20's tonight.
Does this sound like a respiratory infection? Will she recover?
