Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Good news, bad news.  Bad news is I can't tell yet.  Good news is they might both be pullets.

I'll take "can't tell" over definite Roo
I will update as things change

Isn't she/he pretty?
Here is the same one at a slightly different angle

Looking at both head on they still both look girly according to their combs. In my experience though, combs have not been the best indicator for me since my pullets' combs darkened about 3 weeks BEFORE my roo's did. Post again in a couple of weeks. Usually the hen's feather pattern will come in more even than the male's do. Roos tend to have a more patchy pattern. I'm wishing you the best of luck with your cute chickies!

Ok, I think I know what these ones are, but I'd love your opinion. They are 5 weeks old. One is black and white with a bit of red on the wings (yep...), and the other looks like a common coloration for an EE pullet to me (with guest cameos of a speckled sussex and a welsummer). Thoughts?

Also, if anyone has an adult who looked like this at 5 weeks, I'd love to see a photo of what they might look like when they grow up!

The black, white, red one is most likely a cockerel. The yellow and black one is a pullet.

Hello Everyone!

I posted photos 3 weeks ago and got mixed reviews. Let's see what you all think now!
There are 4 EE chickens. They are 8-9 weeks old now.
I think 3 of them are pullets and the other is looking a little roo-y to me. But, all their combs look the same color to me....

#1

#2 (This is the roo-y one based on feather pattern- you'll see)

#3

#4

#3 in front, standing up

#2- The roo-y one.... Is that "rooster red" on its wings?

#1- looked pullet-y her whole life, plain jane brown.

#4

#2- Rooster red??? (#4 and #3 behind)

#2 in front. Then, from left to right (#4, #1, #3)

#2 again

#3 and #1

So, what do y'all think?? Is it safe to give any of them girly names yet?

Thanks!

@MountainDreamer , #1, #3 and #4 are definitely pullets. I'm a little suspicious of #2 because of the patchiness of it's coloring, but I don't see a lot of ''rooster'' red, and the comb is still fairly pale. So it is possible that they are all pullets. Keep an eye on #2, if it is indeed a rooster, you will see shiny, pointed cock feathers coming in on it's back very soon.

Agree that the blk/wht/red looks male, but I also would keep an eye on the blk/gold. Color pattern is pullet for now, but looking at the comb shape and thick legs, it might also be a cockerel. Those two things are not as reliable as feather color pattern, but at this age, things can change quickly. If combs to start turning pink/red in the next couple of weeks, that will be your sign. Hopefully blk/gold will stay nice and pale.
