Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Nope, every group of chicks has some that are more inclined towards leading and others toward following. Males and females. It's true that hormones will eventually drive the males to take a more dominant role but that doesn't often apply to such young chicks.

Ok cool. And again, though it's simply too early to tell for sure... should I feel suspicious of how raised this little 12-day-old babe's comb is? @PeepersMama , you were advising me on this chick on another thread too, curious to know whether your "twin" EE had the same comb this early? Or is there really absolutely no way to draw a conclusion here. I pulled out my fancy camera tonight and took some new snaps of this super-gorgeous chick...

Thanks for dealing with my fretting.

That is a beautiful bird!

I suspect we have a tell-tale comb.

Is that the three row comb of doom? Here is his/her sister's comb, for reference. Both chicks are 4 1/2 weeks old, and have similar patterning so far, just different colors and different combs. The combs are what is of particular interest :)

Hello. I'm new to chicken raising and I'm hoping someone could offer some help with my EE's gender. Secondly, if one/both happen to be a male my wife thinks that a fertilized egg wouldn't be good to eat or would have a baby chicken inside (that would then get cracked into a pan in the am). I don't think a fertilized egg would taste any differently. Thank you all in advance for your thoughts.
