Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Hi there! We got these Easter Eggers about 2 weeks ago and we are guessing they were about a week old because they had very feathered wings. Today I took them to a sheltered flower bed for some outdoor time. Marilyn is the blonde and seems to have some orangey gold feathers coming on her neck and chest (first two photos). Then we have Henrietta who has kind of a macho stance at times, very feathered tail, and not much comb so far. (Next 2 photos). Last is Penny, who was having a dust bath and couldn’t be bothered to pose. This her feathers and comb. Any guesses if we ended up with Roos? 🤷‍♀️

Much too soon to sex. Post updated pics at 6 weeks.
Thank you, any guess how old they are?

I agree with @Overo Mare . The earliest an ee can be guess sexed is around 8 weeks. And some are still a mystery until closer to 14 weeks.
I recently had one that most were convinced was a roo because she had a lot of red. Mom was a typical hatchery ee and dad was a black ee ( some sort of marans cross).

Thank you. 😀 My other 3 are sapphire gems which are supposed to be sex-linked. They are already getting significant combs (in comparison to the Easter Eggers haha), but I know even the pullets have decent sized combs. That being said, now I’ve learned the sex-linked thing isn’t always a given so I am sure at some point I will be posting their pics, haha.

Sex-linked is given if the person determining the sex knows what they are doing lol. With that being said, the sapphire gems seem to be one of the harder ones to determine. The boys have a light spot on their head. And if any of them have barring, they are likely male.

I was very careful to make sure they all had very dark heads, the guy at the feed store was vent sexing everything but said even that can be fallible. At first I thought I saw barring but then saw photos of what the rooster barring actually looks like and think so far so good. One does not have the same development of tail feathers sooo I don’t know if that means anything in this hybrid. However THAT one has the tiniest comb, 😂.

I really appreciate having a such a knowledgeable group to be able to learn from.
