Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

I have a hen that could be her twin. I don't remember your previous post but I have no doubt on Claudia (or either of the other two gold gals).

All of my EEs have funky combs -- noodle, roseish, peaish but tall... They all lay blue or green. Mine come from a small, local hatchery so I cannot speak for all sources but I will say that modified pea combed birds absolutely can have the blue shell gene.

Hi everyone,

I'm brand new here and fairly new to chickens in general. We own two Barred Rock ladies and a Chanticleer rooster (all three were wedding gifts to my husband and I last year!) and, in our quest for blue eggs, we just purchased some Easter Eggers. Also, one Spotted Sussex, for fun, because it was available and the breeder said they are nice birds!

So, here's a photo of our six new babes. They are nearly two weeks old. If there are any tips for what to watch for at which age markers, to determine sex, that would be of great help!

You are right. It's a boy.
It's about five or so weeks old, those four hatched around April 10th- actually I'm pretty sure three out of the four are cockerels, the black sex link and the white leghorn are 95% likely to be boys, only the other EE I think is female. I do need one rooster so I think the red EE will be the one I keep if he's friendly.
