Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

The head spot usually indicates presence of barring. If it's an EE mix with a cuckoo or barred parent, it could be a sex link, if the hen was barred and the rooster was solid. Which parent was the cream legbar?

He came from a barnyard mix I won on eBay so these are the choices, keep in mid the egg was a small olive green one.

Hens: Welsummer, Black copper Marans, Blue copper marans, cuckoo marans, EE and olive eggers, Bantam olive eggers, Russian orloff, Bantam chocalate orps. Crele orp, Langshan games and mixes, polish, Ameracanu, , BLR wyandottes,Bantam welsummers, Bantam cuckoo marans, light Brahma

You are right that initially it seems to be a mix with some EE in the gene pool, my best guess is the hen was a bantam olive egger (since the egg was small and olive green) and the rooster was probably the bantam cuckoo marans. It won't be a sex link though, since the cockerel was probably cuckoo, so I wouldn't count it out as a definite male just yet. If you see that comb get very red and plump as soon as four or six weeks, then you'll know.

I assume easter egger. She is supposed to be a she, but she is bigger than all the other chickens in the brooder the samexage (and I have a LF Brahma in there) and she is the most aggressive of the bunch. Plus, that comb is pinker than any others (pic doesn't show how pink). 4 weeks old. Is she a she?

That's really good news, I thought for sure it was a he and I would have to rehome it. It will be 4 weeks on Friday and no sign of redness in the comb and the legs are on the skinny side. Fingers Crossed!

Hi new to this thread. I recently acquired 3 chicks. The person I got them from has ameraucana and Easter eggers. I'm sure 2 are Easter Eggers and 1 I'm hoping is an Ameraucana hen. Could I get someone's opinion.

2 Easter Egger cockerels?

Ameraucana pullet? Could it still be a hen with 3 rows on it's comb? It's tail feathers do curve down and it does have a uniformed color. Just hoping :fl

^ No opinion from me, still learning as well ;) , but I was just curious how old they are?

The last one looks like one of mine that I'm certain is a girl, but watch me be wrong!
