Any ideas on this one? I bought 12 chicks from a "breeder” that claimed they were pure. They clearly were not. I found out later she has all of her Ameraucana colors mixed in the same pen. I wonder though if she has some others in there as well because one has no muffs and this one has little to no muffs and green legs. I have always thought this one was male. I have three others that are surely cockerels and one pullet with the same coloring as this one with a much more even pattern. It has no comb development though. They are almost 5 weeks so I know I should be patient, but hearing everyone's thoughts is fun too!

I guess pullet. (emphasis on guess!)  There are those darker areas on the wings, but males tend to get white patches.  Interested to see what it looks like in another week or so.

Thanks! The darker patches are what threw me off. I have a feeling you are correct.

Yours will look like the common type, but will be silver based (white/grey/black) instead of gold based, like mine below. I think it's called silver partridge.

I have your hen's twin! She's very pretty, but kind of dumb. (Her name is Einstein.)

We also have an EE named Tyrion. She looked like

Here's a baby pullet pic of Tyrion. We thought she was a fearless mini roo for a long time.

I have seen a lot of the gold EEs. Mine is named Monkey. She's not dumb, but is not very friendly. Excellent layer and very healthy, though.
I remember Tyrion! Love that color. Don't know what to call it. The closest I have to that is the little Serama hen I posted and a bantam cochin. Would love an EE like it.

Here is this weeks update pictures. These guys are about 3 1/2 weeks old. Does chick #2 look like pullet coloring or not? I haven't had an EE with that type of coloring yet so I cant tell.

KrystalRose, too young to be sure and close ups of combs really help, but predictions (guesses!) are:

#1 looks like a cockerel. (comb stands out in profile)

#2 not sure. maybe pullet? leaning toward cockerel. That is an unusual pattern.

#3 looks like a pullet.
