Hoot and Iris both look like pullets. Iris is one pretty chicky!

Thanks , I think she is pretty too. Iris is starting to get some blue / grey feathers in her tail and on her cheeks. She is shy but so sweet .

Posted here last week, Just wanted to post an update on my EE, Ducky. In the last week "she" has grown her comb considerably and it is now turning pink at well.
Oh well. He can stick around for a while yet.

I would guess boy, but I am not expert!
We named our first Easter Egger Duckie (spelt differently, but same idea). Darn neighbors dog got to her. She was one of my favorite.


She is the one in the back. Neighbors dog killed both of these hens on the same day. 2 of my most friendly, cool egg color laying, favorite hens. But the dog killed my other favorites on the same day. Stupid dog.

How about these three who are all four weeks old? #1 head only - All white: #2 body #2 Head #3 body #3 Head

1 - pullet 2 - pullet? (I would really like to see the comb head on) 3 - cockerel These are all just guesses though, at this age they still have a lot of maturing to do to be sure of anything.

EE's are just so amazing with all the colors and how much they change from chick to adult too. I have two, already wishing I had gotten more I'll post pics of my two. They are only about 3 1/2 weeks old. Here's the first one. All the reading about the red scares me a little though. But this one has red everywhere. What do you guys think? Or is it still too young to tell? I really hope they are both girls, but I will continue to try to be patient and wait for that crow or egg And here is the second EE. This one has a lot of gray throughout. I hope it stays.

Your first one looks like mine did at that age, but your is much more feathered than mine was. When the feathers on his back started coming in this week, they were bright red. I'm optimistic for you though!

That's good. Better than my boys who want to name them all Steve. Or Bob. Even the girls. They think it's funny.

Luckily, I have veto power on names.

That's too funny. My older boy has named every pet he ever had Steve, it's weird that he went with Sparky for the chicken he named. My younger boy has discovered he like the name Henry, so he named a chicken that (he even named a plant Henry lol). By executive Dad power, I dubbed the chicken King Henry I, so that future chickens he names will be King Henry II, the III, etc.

Apparently not for my daughter. I just have to remember what she names them! The first batch includes:
Yue - Chinese for moon apparently
Zia - no clue
Echo - Mythology but this chicken makes the most non chickeny sounds, appropriate name I guess
Zorra - no idea, the girl she watches named it
Dee and Laura - named after my wife's mother and sister since their last name is Partridge and the birds were Partridge Chanteclers.
Fae - wood nymph or something
Peep - because she peeped a lot as a chick. Now she "sqwarks" a lot.
Andromeda and Persephone - Mythology again
Anais and Clemence - named after girls she home stayed with in France

Not sure what the 7 we just got will be named, I'm guessing it won't be after the conveniently equal number of Snow White's dwarfs. Nor do I know what she will name the White Chantecler pullets I will get in a few months. Apparently she is working up white related names for the white chickens (the PCs and the 2 White Rock chicks).
