Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Ok, here are the 7 week update photos of my leghorn/Ameraucana cross. Comb is pretty pink, I hope shes still a "she"!

And here is a 5 week EE Im hoping is a girl. No comb coloring or development, Im thinking the pattern is girlish (no red on shoulders)

They both look like girls so far.

Right now they both look like pullets to me

Love the blue and gold EE, and yes, her pattern is pullety

My EE hen hatched a clutch from a stray red rooster (RIR?). The EEs had distinctly different tails early on - can anyone tell me, is the bigger tail a sign of a rooster? Their coloring was almost identical. I say "was", because my small-tailed one (I gave half the chicks away, and was down to 3 ee's) sadly died last week. Here's a photo, where I tried to show the tails. The smaller one (now gone

) is closer to the camera.

How old are they?
I don't think tail length has anything to do with gender determination in younger birds.
More important would be the comb area and the emergence of saddle and hackle feathers.
Male EEs also tend to get blotchy red areas on the upper part of the wing but given the RIR rooster and color of the chicks, I don't suppose it would show in your birds.

x2 Head shots of your birds as well as full body shots would be your best bet. We really need to be able to see those combs.

here's a few more head shots!
Again, all have the same big red rooster daddy, the red one has the EE mom (shown partially here, also on my lap), then obviously a barred rock mom, and the black one is from my gold laced wyandotte. I suspect the black one is a female and the rest are males, but mostly because of the tail differences.
They're about 6 weeks old.
Any advice appreciated!
And can I just say, aren't these some of the cutest babies?? I guess they haven't hit the awkward stage yet!

At 8 weeks, Im finally convinced my Leghorn/Ameraucana cross is a pullet

Please excuse her messy beard (fermented feed)

But unfortunately I discovered orangish shoulder patches coming in on my blue/gold EE today. 6 weeks. Comb is still very flat and yellow. Could it just be her coloring or is this almost certainly the sign of a cockeral? Her pattern has been so girly up until now!?!?!

The barred baby has some awful big wattles for 6 weeks. Id say boy on that one. Are you sure they arent a few weeks older, they look fully feathered.
