Yes, too early. Pullets will chest bump and raise hackles and challenge others, not just cockerel behavior at this age.

Thank you so much, I could not find any info on the chest bumping action.

I don't have an answer for that but I wanted to say that Smokey looks a lot like my Belle in terms of patterns. Belle is a Bantam Brahma cross so no help on gender there either.

I have a free ranged flock with 4 roosters, 2 are EE's. I have 5 week old chicks and many have pea combs or "sort of" do. I'm looking for help on one in particular. This is an EE x NH with a really weird single/pea comb combo. Would you think this is male or female? #1

Then there's this #2 "guy"? Comb is pink but no "peas" just flat like mom's. Speckled sussex x EE

And this #3 "girl"?

And this #4 girl...

And #5 boy? EE x BA

And if this helps any, these are the 2 potential dad's of #1,4,5.

2&3 have an ee mom.
