Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Big congrats on Sharkie's first egg! I'm guessing by the lack of crowing & mating, you already had strong suspicions of a female.

Everyone here who guessed Brownie as a boy was right. He started crowing in Nov. Now at 29 weeks some of the girls are laying. This must have really confused him. Daily, he digs around & sits in a nest box, then hops out singing the "egg song." I think he has some major gender identity issues.

Does anyone else have a crazy rooster that tries to lay eggs?

That is hilarious!!

Thanks!! I hatched Sharkie from an egg (being told it was an Olive Egger), I was hoping for a female...(and as you know it took a while to find out for sure:), finally the person that sold me the egg said, (If your chicken has a straight comb then it wont lay olive eggs, if it has a pea com it will) So, yesterday when I found, what I affectionately call the "baby avocado" I felt like I hit the jackpot!! I feel very blessed!

Any ideas here? They are around 10-12 weeks, just starting to stop peeping and get deeper voices but no crowing.
