Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

With the yummy food bribes, make sure you use a recall command the same one every time: A unique whistle, "Chick, chick", "come" ect. We used the same wistle tune for calling the dogs and birds, so the flock and pack would all come together.

Also chickens like garden snails too.

Compared to the combs of the roos combs.....these 2 on the right are pullets...(?) The one of the left has such a different stance most of the time and the comb is still not developing...is that enough to call her a pullet?

I read through a lot of these pages before posting and I think I have called them right (with one exception). I have a friend wanting to buy a couple of pullets from me tomorrow and I'd like to be sure. Mind helping me?

These are the ones I think are the pullets, agree?

My one doubt is this one....it doesn't have the obvious splashes of red/brown that another one does but doesn't quite look like a hen, either.

Also, I've never had a black & white EE hen, is this one?

The group shot isn't conclusive for some of these but the golden-orange ones (far right and lower center) are obvious females. The first black/white/brownish one being held looks female to me and the second b/w looks like it may be patching white even though just beginning to redden in the comb. Better views of wings/chest would be helpful since those will often show the telltale looks of masculine white or red patches on the wing or the feminine patterned wings with a rosy tone in the chest.

In the pullet cage i see 2 that may be boys. The 2 in the upper left corner. White and black usually means cockerel (i know there are exceptions   ) and the other one seems to have patchy wings. the one being held is a boy I believe. At least one that i had looked like that and it ended up being a roo.

x2

The center looks like a pullet. Can't see well enough on the other two to be sure. Post some more pics!

I have a white EE, s/he is 7 weeks old, and Hedwig (her name), has longer tail feathers, but she is plain white with olive legs, she is in my avatar at 4ish weeks old and the other one is May (nickname), who is also the same age, they are sisters. Could you help me, I was told they were pullets, but now I doubting on Hedwig, and I love Hedwig!!

The pullet on the far right is a pullet... That salmon breast color coming in is a sign of pullet. I have a pullet now that looks just like her...not sure on the other two. Need better pics... Their combs are looking a little rooster ish to me... Better pics will help determine

What are you seeing that makes you think she is a cockerel? The solid white ones won't usually get the red patches on the wings, so really the comb is the only clue until they are old enough to get saddle feathers.

Can you post some pictures of Hedwig? Try to get a good shot of her comb.
