I think he was... Shoot not sure how old here.
He reminds me of a bald eagle. So handsome:)

Okay, so my eyes are starting to glaze over from staring at each picture in this thread (not every one though. Over 600 pages, I can't do it!) and there is such huge color variations for EE's, I am just not sure! :th I think I have at least one pullet, not sure about the other one, and I would love some other input. I have 2 Easter Eggers. They are both 6 weeks old. There doesn't seem to be hardly any color in their combs either. This is "Ember". I think Ember is a pullet. I was amazed at the color change from when "she" was a week old until now! This is "Cinder". I hope Cinder is a pullet. Although they are both friendly, "she" is more timid than Ember. So, anyone have any ideas on gender for these two?
I believe Ember and Cinder are pullets.

When I enlarged the pictures of Ember, I saw a lot of brownish red on her feathers and a wide and bumpy comb. I couldn't tell if the comb had three rows or not. I hope it's girl, but I think it may be a boy. Please update in a few weeks. I'd like to see how it feathers out.

As for Cinder, the color is almost solid except for some rust color on the back and chest. It is not a typical color/pattern of an EE girl, so I'd wait a little longer for more development. But over all, based on the light and small comb and the timid behavior you described, Cinder looks to be a girl.

My four EE's are almost four weeks old. What are your thoughts? They are supposed to be sexed as pullets but I know how that goes. There are two Langshans in there with them. They all act like pullets in that they freeze and run at strange noises. All very active and love their baby roost. They line up on it at night and sleep there. All will fly out of the box if I don't keep the screen on top.

Here's another view of Ember. I am having a hard time telling.

I will definately keep you updated. I really hope she's a pullet!

Ember is a pullet; looks just like many other EE pullets I've seen. Cinder, not sure yet. I'd love to see an update in a few weeks to see how this one turns out.

Crowcreek, all pullets!

I felt like they were too but am so paranoid because I have terrible luck with aggressive roosters.

I was also wondering, most of them seem to have brown ears. Does that mean I will not get any colored eggs other than brown?

For rooster aggression I suggest searching BYC threads on this... you need to find the threads on how to become the flock leader AKA you have to impress on the young teenager roo you are the Roo in charge, they also give examples of early warning signs, and how to correct the behavior so you do not have Monster Roo... or it is the other option rooster dinner.

Okay chicken earlobes: in many chickens there are little tiny feathers that cover and obscure the actual earlobe colour, so brown would be your bird's feathers most likely. In many other chickens the earlobes are naked so you can easily see the skin colour. So to know your bird's genetics you are going to need to look under the feathers...

The Earlobe sort of true sort of false egg colour correspondence:

People along time ago decided to breed white egg layers to have white earlobes (or yellow) & brown egg layers to have red earlobes. But, & this is important to remember there are many, many breeds of chicken with red earlobes that lay white eggs & white/yellow earlobes that lay brown eggs... because the genes for ealobe colour and egg colour are actually not connected, it is only the result of artificial (selective breeding) selection bty us humans & not every group of people did this with their chicken breeds. So not 100% rule of thumb.

Also Green & Blue Earlobes are just really the white/yellow with the dark skin pigmnet over the top so again does not equal egg colour.

Now with all that said you can breed with Earlobe colour to equal a certain egg colour if you wish, and also to increase or decrease the size of the earlobes, and if you want fuzzy earlobes or naked ones.
