Hello, posting here cause my other thread seems dead and I still have a question. I know this little one isn't the average looking EE mix but.. he/she has inherited the pea comb and colors of EEs.
This is Nugget, I got him/her as a gift and I don't know the exact age but from what the person I got him/her from said.. I'm guessing maybe 1 1/2 - 2 month(s). What do you think? The responses from my thread were both "pullet" but is it normal for a pullet this young to have such a pinkish comb? Thank you in advance.
So bummed one of my EE chicks is a cockerel, I had a feeling he would be. Free straight run with chick feed. He was more silve down than brown. Now at three weeks old has patches of white and three rows of pea combs. Hopefully one of the other two will be a pullet, only time will tell.
If a male has a pea comb, it will always develop three rows. On rare occasions a female will develop a three row comb, but it won't be a prominent as a males comb.
