Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Just got two hens new hens laid 1 egg since purchase about 2 to 3 weeks back egg was laid in first week what's wrong one sex link one mixed yard hen?? Was told just over or under a year

I've been wondering about his coloring myself. Maybe something to do with the blue/black genetics when mixed with gold birds? His two full siblings are solid black with unreal iridescence. (If i didn't know they were mixed, they could pass for pure Ameraucanas, slate legs and all. )

EtA we just lost him this morning... some sort of predation right through the chicken wire in the run. Not something nice to wake up to.

Really sorry to hear you lost one to a predator. If you haven't read it before, chicken wire is no protection. And chickens seem to like to lay against fences making them an easy target for a coon to reach in and snag them.

Ok, this chick is 4 1/2 weeks old. She reminds me of an eagle with her colors and she has dark slate legs. Do you like she's a Pullet? It's my guess but I've been wrong before.

That comb seems rather pink for 4 weeks.....

I'm no expert, but I might guess cockerel

It is also seeming to be a 3 row comb. There are some girls with 3 rows, but it is really rare.

In person the comb is very pale and the stance is Pullet. It maybe just wishful thinking???

I had another chick with a def 3 row pea comb compare to this one. I guess I'll wait a few more weeks. This is a pic of my other chick

Am I correct in assuming that this little one is a boy? Also, how do you sex a completely black EE?
