Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Sorry if that was confusing.. The pics are the one I believe is a cockerel. I did not put pictures for the pullets.
Those combs are a little large, so chances are they are both cockerels. However, it is still too early to tell. I think it's wait and see on these.

Thank you! Crossing my fingers for Kyle and we will be happy with whatever Fella lays. You can still eat them!

Oh heck no, you can only eat the blue and green eggs, the brown ones are bad!

I agree that Kyle is a question. When I "bigified" the picture I see a single comb, not at all pink. And fella looks to be a pullet. Lots of yellow legs there, I don't know what the mix was but the EE traits don't seem to have come through.

I think I have a cockerel! I know, still young! I hope! I am almost sure I have 2 pullets besides him! Just starting out with these! So really hoping I have a trio of them.

How old is the chick? Is that a pea comb? Looks different to me. Legs/feet are slender (for what that tells you!).

The comb looks to be a single. Too young to expect color in a cockerels comb I think. I'm guessing no more than 3 weeks old, probably younger.

That's what I thought! One has green legs, one has green toes, two are very yellow and that last one has black legs. Although the two with yellow legs also have pea combs. Who knows what their breed is. :idunno
Here's to hoping Kyle is a hen with a boys name. :fl :lau

Green legs are usually a sign of EEs. Not sure of sex on first one, but it has a single comb and not much in the way of muffs or beard.
Second is a cockerel- 3 row comb and dark red coming in on the wings.

If they they don't have and pass on the traits of a breed recognized by the APA, they are not a "breed". EEs are not a breed, neither are sex links (under their various names).

That doesn't mean they won't be good chickens, they just aren't a recognized and "describable" bird. If you say "I have a Silver Laced Wyandotte", it is easy for someone to know exactly what it looks like, about what size it is and what (approximate) color egg it will lay. If you say "I have an Easter Egger", someone will say "got a picture?".

Hi everyone! I'm glad to see this thread still going strong! I have a few Easter Eggers (I think - they were sold as Ameraucanas), and I'm wondering if it's too early to get an idea on their sex yet. The two with the rusty patches are pretty agile and it's harder to catch them. The two mostly brown ones are pretty docile and don't object too much to being held.
