Ok, so I freely admit I am definitely a newbie. The last 2 pics are of the same chick. I went back at my photos and looked at their feathering pics, and I definitely have the last one twice. I'll try again. So sorry about that. Feeling pretty embarrassed.

Yep, #3 was a cockerel from the first picture. Very uneven patterning and SERIOUS rooster red in the wings.

Thanks for posting, the more we see the more we can learn. Where are the "now" pictures?

Hen 2. I think she's gorgeous. For a long time I thought she was going to be a roo with all the rusty red. I love her collar of gold and black though!!

#2 lacks the deep red of the cockerel. Not at all the same shade that males get.
