Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

2 and 3 are definitely girls. 1, you'll have to watch and wait. I had one with a black breast which I was told might be a boy, but as she got older the black dispersed.
That's what I'm thinking! Here's a better shot of Black Beard!

Any guesses on these 7 ish week old EEs? Also, when do pea combs turn red for roosters in this breed?
EE cockerels are usually showing red by 8 or 9 weeks. I've had some go earlier.

I'll bet your #1 came from the same hatchery as Harmoni's.

Mom an OE, dad a maran mix. They are 6 weeks old.

Hi, my own thread didn't receive many feedbacks, so I'm trying here: 6 weeks old OEXMarans. What do you think? Too early to tell? Thanks for your answers! 😊

Iffy definition @maceleneo. Legbars lay blue, green or olive eggs but they are not Easter Eggers. In fact they are a recognized breed (which looks nothing like an EE other than they are chickens) where what we typically call an Easter Egger is not.

I think for many of us a "true" Easter Egger (now there is an oxymoron) would be a bird that has the characteristics of an Ameraucana without the color or "breeding true" requirements. That means they will generally have pea combs, beards and muffs. EEs usually have green legs, Ameraucana have slate legs. Ameraucana can only lay blue eggs, EEs can lay most any color though blue to some shade of green is most common.
