Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Thanks for replying, but aren't Eeaster Eggers mixes? Sorry if this is a stupid question, I don't know much about breeds, but I thought that all chickens who laid colorful eggs were Easter Eggers!
I think "EE" is often used as a catch all phrase, but to me an EE (sometimes called Americana) is the popular hatchery version of an Ameraucana. They have been bred for decades and have been quite consistent over the years. One hatchery has even trademarked the name Easter Egger. EEs are not Ameraucanas since they do not meet the breed standard, but they have been in production at many major hatcheries long before the Ameraucana breed was standardized and admitted into the APA. The long history of EE breeding with their pea combs and large dual purpose size has made them fairly easy to sex, usually by 6-7 weeks.

Other blue-green layers may not have the same characteristics or might be crossed with a slower developing breed and that can make sexing a little harder. So with your 2 adorable little OE crosses, I cannot see the combs well (on my phone) and not sure if the absence of wattles is because they are pullets or are they from EE stock and won't develop wattles at all.
They have small pale combs (I think they are pea combs), so not obviously males yet, but they are young. However, I do see some dark patchy coloring which can indicate males, but I don't have much experience with blue chicks. And again, they are a bit young and do a lot of growing and changing at 6 weeks.
Hope you post more pics in a week or so and we'll see!

Thank you both for your explanations! As I said, I don't know much about breeds, but since I myself have two Araucanas I should have known that not all chickens who lay colored eggs are Easter Eggers! 😳🤭 As far as I know in Europe we have neither Ameraucanas, nor Americanas. In fact I guess we don't even have Easter Eggers. In Italy we call Olive Eggers all mixes between Marans and Legbars or Araucanas and their offspring, even when they don't lay olive eggs... this is why in my head Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers overlap a bit... but I think I understand what you meant now when you said that mine are mixes @Wishing4Wings!

So... I'll keep waiting and I'm going to update with new pictures for sure in the future!

I did notice your chick's legs had a lot of feathering. Makes sense you are in Europe! Most of the Marens I see here in the US have little to no feathering.

I have a 6-week-old easter egger and was hoping someone could help me confirm the sex. She's supposed to be a pullet, but her comb is FAT compared to our other easter egger chick, so that has me worried (it looks like it has 1 row though, so maybe I'm overthinking this?). Her comb is turning just ever so slightly pink the past 2 days, but it's also been crazy hot out. She's a total bossypants with the other chicks, but she runs away and acts like a monster is after her when I try to pick her up despite being handled constantly since day 1.

Here are a bunch of pics. Please ignore the tiny red freckle - that's not her beak, she just really likes strawberries.

Hi! I am new to chickens and got 4 EE from Tractor supply. They stated they should be all pullet but do not guarantee this. Here are my 4: They are about 7 weeks old. Not sure how to tell if what gender? But scared 3 look like Roos with the red combs! Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated 😊

I agree that you may have 3 roos. Give it a few more weeks and try to get a picture of their back feathers.
