All female!!!!!

All female?!? Wow, wouldn't that be great!!

oops - I posted inside the quotes - here it is again:

#2 is male - the rest may be pullets, but you'll have to wait a little longer to find out for sure

Thanks ArizonaDesertChick. I was inclined to think #2 was a roo because of the wattles, but I have no idea what breed he might be. He's quite unusual looking. That's a really nice array of colors in your avatar. I'm hoping that some of these chicks will lay colored eggs.

How early can you tell with the color pattern sexing? I have a two week chick that came out of a green egg. It has yellow legs though, so I have no idea what the rooster was.

You have to wait until they're mostly feathered in, wait about a month.

Does your chick have a pea or a straight comb? If it has a pea, you may get some green eggs. If it's straight, they'll probably be brown. Leg color doesn't really matter. Easter Eggers can have any color. It's just when you see green legs, it's likely an EE. Doesn't mean all EE's have green legs. I have 4 EE's. 1 has green legs, 2 have slate, and the last has yellow.

I have a black and white EE hen with slate legs. I really thought for the longest time she was going to be a rooster, but she definitely lays beautiful green eggs! I really need to post a picture of her, she is lovely.

Now, tell me about white EEs - I have a little one that I have NO idea on pullet vs. cockerel! Are they typically one or the other?

ETA: She is solid creamy white, not a colored feather anywhere on her? that I have found.

Ok, here's some good ones to guess by color although I pretty much can guess already

They are brown EE crossed with blue Cochin. I'll have to rehome a couple of these, but I am hopeful they will be pretty enough to not be dinner somewhere. LOL.

eight weeks old

I think this one is a pullet. Cool black beard!!

You think it's a girl? I would hope so, but the gold coming in on the wings makes me think boy. s/he is pretty anyways tho.

Mom was your standard brown EE, dad was a blue/gold cochin.

This is an amazing thread. I think I'm finally starting to see the differences!

Unfortunately, I think Phoebe needs a name change. I'll post a picture later; I can't find a camera anywhere. "She" has changes so much in the last week those pictures could be of a different chicken. She's a beautiful black/white; she's very flashy (I should have known then). About a week ago (7 weeks old) her comb turned bright red and has three distinct bumps on her comb. She also has thick legs. Thank goodness no crowing yet.
