Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Oh, sorry! I was looking for your post earlier and either didn't see it or thought I replied.

All the dark colored ones I see are definite boys, those are some big and prominent combs coming in. The others are too far to tell. (the whitish colored ones) Far as in distance from camera.

TY I will take some closer pictures tomorrow, 1 of the 1's I thought was a girl was a dark one, with white feathers coming in on her neck I think sh'e is my SLW cross, but not much comb at all very flat, unless its not a pea comb at all....will get some better/closer pictures, and pray.........TY again Kim

If these are your own concoction just remember the sex-linked rule, in that if you do have SLW hens and they're bred to a male who is not silver or golden colored, any white or silver based chick will indeed be a male.

this is the daddy and mommies....... I should have wrote on the egg who it came from. Fileen and Shimmers egg are very close in color and size argggggggg

This is the daddy I think he is a splash, at least that is the best description I can come up with... he is mostly gray in the neck and face, black and white in the tail and alot of redish brown splahes in the wings back.....
This is Shimmer my SLW, not so perfect a specimen, but I think she's gorgeous.

Fileen my 1 and only EE hen, sister to the daddy, well at least from the same batch, so most likely the same rooster different mom.....
and a couple new baby pictures, to get better ones I will have to take them outa the coop, not so easy since they made it there home

.. TY again, I'm not sure I understand the sexlink thing but I'll look it up......... Kim

I have loved all 714 of these posts but STILL have a question about two of my EEs lol They are 6 1/2 weeks old now. I have 3 that are 5 1/2 weeks old and look/act NOTHING like these two. So I tried to take as many pics as I could so you all can guess. I'm almost positive one is a roo...which is fine as long as he behaves himself.

This is Cutie...the one I have a sneaking(okay more like screaming) suspicion is a cockerel. The only thing I don't see that you all talk about are pointed feathers. They are all, and I mean ALL, very rounded. Like you can't get more round. I am stumped. I'll post pics of the second one in a few.

Okay...here is the second one. This is Buttercup. Same situation as Cutie. Large, reddish comb but feathers are round.

I think both are roosters. The first one I'm positive is a rooster and 2nd almost positive is a rooster.

I will say my mom has had chickens for-EVER and today she snatched them both up and looked at their business ends. There is nothing but a "hole" there. Not to be gross but it looks like you could stick something in there with no problems or obstructions. Nothing that pops out. She's convinced they are pullets.

Yep, those two main ones are definite cockerels. The black and white one especially will be very pretty though.

LOVE that daddy rooster, a handsome fella, but no, he won't create sex-linked kids. He is indeed splash based though; a splash wildtype BBR (duckwing)
