Easter Egger Sexing "tips and tricks" *Pictures Included*

Any guesses on this chick, my favourite?

3 weeks old, I know it's early but I'm dying to know!

It's the tamest of all 29, the most beautiful colouring, and I'll be heartbroken if I have to give it away

Definitely too early to know for sure, but as a rookie I would lean towards pullet because the coloring looks pretty well spread out so far.

I had both a hen and a rooster in that same color scheme, they were both sexed as pullets and looked exactly the same as day-old chicks. The cockerel (Colonel Sanders) was about 4 months in this photo, the hen (Tender) was about 16 months old.

Tender had a laced pattern that got lighter from her head down, and she had a few bluish streaks in her tail that disappeared as she got older. She laid a pale blue egg and was one of my best layers.

(About 6 months old in this photo)

The Colonel lived with a friend for his first 4 months so I didn't see him much as a chick, but I think he feathered out almost all white at first. The spots on his wings definitely got bigger and more pronounced over the first year, but then faded and spread out in his second.

(At about 3 months old)

(At about 13.5 months old)

I hope yours turns out to be a girl, please post pictures as s/he grows up (I'm still learning too!)
And don't worry, if it turns out to be a rooster that is anything like The Colonel, you probably won't be too sad to part with it.

Here is my new EE. Do you think this is a rose comb or a weird pea comb?

It is 6 weeks old and has muffs and dark slate blue legs. Any suggestions on egg color? Male or Female?

Anyone want to take some guesses for fun? Too early, but I have some speculations

Also note that I believe this one came from a mixed game hen over my EE rooster.

As a week old. Believe it or not, this is her. The only one that was this dark.

How the heck did her legs go from yellow to pink? :idunno

I am leaning toward roo... I think I see some red on the wing.... pull the wing out and look.

As for the Yellow legs..... the yolk makes their legs yellow and will fade after a few weeks in chicks that don't have yellow legs.

This one ended up with a single comb. I was looking it over really closely today. I am confident it's a girl noting how small the single comb is at 6 weeks. It's really really small!

Plus the red lamp made everything look red. I hate that.. Can't take any decent pictures with that red bulb!

Also thanks for noting that yolk fact! Interesting :D

I've been a long time gawker but this is my first post. Thanks all for the insight on this confusing breed. I was recently sold 2 Ameraucanas but I believe them to be EE's now. Any thoughts? Also, as much as I hate to think about it, I believe one of my fav's is a roo!

It was speckled brown and looked like a mini hawk but eventually lost most of its brown and is mostly black and white now. Here is a pic when he/she was 2 weeks old.

Here is a pic of her now. He/she is approx. 6 wks. It took him/her much longer to feather than his/her sister.

Here is number 2..... both have 3 rows of combs coming in.

Thank you! Any input would be appreciated.
