Yes that is a roo.... 100%

x2

I'm surprised he's not crowing yet. Mine started at 13 weeks at 4:30am every morning....... until we found him a new home!

definitely a very pretty boy you have there.......... I see hackle and saddle feathers, also I am surprised he isn't crowing too, mine do about this age maybe even a little younger, but they have my big boys to learn from............. too bad you can't keep him, he is gonna be a looker....Kim

Thanks everyone for the confirmation. This week hints of red on his wings started to come in. Well it looks like I need to start the search for a new home before he drives my neighbors mad.

Well it's time to start figuring out these EEs!!! I was told they were blue wheaten ameraucana's, and I know she has BCM, BLRWs., orps of all kinds and some light sussex's, but I don't have a clue what the cross is of these guys!

I'm seeing lots of red, but trying not to freak out completely. Lol! They are 5 weeks old and there are 14 total EE'ers. It's a little overwhelming in the pictures, but if you see some that for sure are screaming pullet or roo, I'd appreciate it!

Roo?

I LOVE this one

The one on the left was a chipmunk

My favourite chick on the left. So friendly

My daughter's favourite - the teeny tiny one that almost didn't make it

Love this one's head feathers

CLoser up pics of Little One. I'm cautiously optomistic by the colouring

I think these are both roos

Little One and Mabel (or Maple) - The 2 we are hoping are pullets

Roo?

jendodd, the ones you've singled out as possible roos do look like boys. I think your and your daughter's favorites are pullets. By 6 weeks or so, the cockerels' combs will turn pink and you'll have some more confirmation. Out of 14, you can expect about 7 to be boys!

As for the breed, go to http://www.ameraucana.org/scrapbook.html , which is the Ameraucana Breeders Club and look at the pictures of the adult Blue Wheatens. The males and females are very different, so if they are really this breed, you can tell the sex by the color.

None of those chicks are PURE Ameraucanas.... sorry. I can't tell the crosses either. The red and blue are not like Blue Laced Red Wyandottes... they are Red Laced the opposite of the BLRW.

Well I see alot of pullets........ my guesses are
1. Roo
2.Pullet
3. Roo
4. Not Sure
5. 2 pullets
6. Pullet
7&8. pullets
9. not close enough to tell
10. the teeny tiny your little one is holding is I think by discription on size and the slow feathering a roo...... could be wrong sometimes sickly chicks take longer to mature.
11.Pullet
12. Roos
13. Girls lap 1 each
`14. can't tell bad angle
15.Roo
16. dark chick is a rooster, blr possible pullet
17. last picture hard to tell but I'm guessing a pullet.........Kim

Thanks all! Yes, I was pretty sure by week 3 that I had Easter Eggers, which is just fine with me because we were after blue eggs, not necessarily purebread Ameraucanas :)

Yea the little one was super sickly when we got it - pasty butt and a quarter size of the rest. Could barely stand, but doing great now!

Awesome so they are red laced blue wyandottes?

I see a lot of roos.. More roos than pullets, but your daughter's favourite is a girl, and your favourite is a boy. Basing that on his comb size. I haven't seen a pullet at 5 weeks with a comb that large

I see a few possible roos but none I feel confident in calling. I personally think a lot of hens get mistaken for roos at this age. The fact that a lot of these are crosses complicates things. Your favorite appears to have a straight comb but not a worrysome one IMO. If your birds indeed have wyandotte heritage they may also grow wattles and comb faster than "normal" or slow feather. I think with all the dynamics you have going on here, I wouldn't even try to guess at genders until 12 weeks. Even then may be a bit premature for the crossed birds. What ever heritage they are, they are going to be lovely! Would love to see them all grown up. :)
