I clean my Eglu Cube dropping tray every 2-3 days. This evening I found 2 soft shell eggs in the tray. Friday morning I posted how I let the girls out before the sun came up and Puff the Easter Egger laid a blue egg on the ground in the dark. The shell was a little rough and thinner than my other girls shells. I just ate it. Puff has made the most drastic changes in the colour of her comb and face. I actually notice the change daily, her comb has also swollen daily. I expect her hormones are in over time and the eggs will settle soon. I have been feeding free choice 50/50 chick grower and layer feed with free choice oyster shells as everyone has suggested. My birds are moved to fresh grass every 2 days. And I feed their crushed shells back to them.
I also have 3 other girls who have not layer yet two of which are not starting to redden in the face.
As everyone suggests I’m thinking she needs time for her egg machine to level out.

I personally wouldn't be feeding layer already with not all hens laying yet, even mixed.

Some do need time to get used to the feelings, and for them to work the glitches out of the system. Most take about a month, some can take a few months

When I had a chronic case of a Serama laying soft shell eggs it was fixed by changing from chick grit to large grit. Apparently not having the right sized grit available can cause egg laying problems

I would have never guessed hens held a PHD in Chemistry! Very complicated little creatures.:thumbsup

I switched mine over to flock raiser since I had new pullets not yet laying. I ended up with several soft eggs because some of the girl couldn’t find the oyster shells hanging on the wall of the coop. So I poured some out on the ground underneath the holder and now they have all found them.
