We have a 6 month old Easter Egger who developed wry neck last Saturday. We removed her from the flock because one of the older girls was pecking at her. We have been treating for 10 days now with Polyvisol, selenium and turmeric mixed with water. She will eat if we hold her up and my husband will stretch her neck gently to help her. We have seen minor improvement but wi see how long this will take or even if she will recover. What is the experience here with time frame and is there anything else we should be doing.

You really need to give her vitamin E 400 IU daily and a little cooked egg. The Polyvisol doesn’t have enough vitamin E to treat wry neck. Very little selenium is needed, and since it can be overdosed, I would just give some egg or a small amount of tuna or other food for selenium. Wry neck is just a neurological symptom of vitamin deficiency, head or neck injury, can be hereditary, and may be seen in Mareks and a few other diseases. It may or may not get better, but it can take days to weeks to know for sure. Do you know if she was vaccinated for Mareks, and if she could be have been injured on her head?
